POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Senior Officer, IT Architecture, Al & ML, assists in the design, deployment, and operational support of secure, compliant Al/ML solutions for the bank, working primarily on AWS and hybrid/on-prem environments. You will be a senior technical and escalation point, responsible for delivering complex ML projects into production, setting MLOps and architecture best practices, and ensuring models and platforms meet operational, security, and regulatory requirements.
Reporting to Manager, Al & ML Engineering, the Senior, Al & ML Engineering will also provide technical leadership, guidance, and coaching to the Al/ML engineering team and broader IT organization. This role carries significant influence in shaping Al strategy, architecture decisions, and vendor selection to deliver sustainable, auditable, and business-impacting Al solutions.
DUTY & RESPONSIBILITY
- Translating complex business problems into sound and cost-effective Al solutions.
- Becoming an advisor to application and project teams on the budget and costing for the components related to Al solution.
- Actively liaise with Application, Infrastructure, IT Security and related vendors to determine future requirements of Al & ML.
- Working with systems/applications vendor to understand their roadmaps for enterprise solutions and ensure optimal alignment with Al & ML architecture/design.
- Assist and implement MLOps and delivery standards for Al, data and application integrations.
- Stay current with Al/ML and data architecture trends and translate relevant innovations into pilot projects or production improvements.
- Keep abreast of emerging Al, ML and data architecture trends and developments and align these with business strategic requirements where appropriate.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to ML engineers, MLOps engineers, and data engineers; promote code quality, peer review and operational excellence.
- Assist cross-functional technical workshops and design sessions; resolve complex technical escalations and unblock project teams.
- Building strong relationships with IT and Business team with the aim of optimising cooperation and maximising efficiencies.
- Assist with vendor evaluations, proof-of-concepts and selection for cloud Al services, LLM providers, and third-party tools; own technical due diligence and third-party risk validation.
- Prepare and assist with technical input for project reporting, architecture roadmap, and senior management briefings.
- Comply with all applicable regulations, rules, codes, guidelines and standards set by regulators and the Bank, and carry out duties with high integrity; and
- Adhere to all established risk control guidelines, procedures and measures to identify, assess, report, mitigate and monitor the risks involved in the day-to-day work.
QUALIFICATION
- University graduate, preferably major in Computer Science related subjects or equivalent.
- Preferable over 3 years' experience in IT sector.
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in ML engineering, MLOps or data/ML architecture roles.
- Proven experience designing, deploying, and operating production ML systems and pipelines in regulated environments (banking/financial services preferred).
- Exposure to cloud (especially AWS), hybrid and on-prem environments and diverse technical configurations.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python or Java with additional scripting languages like Bash.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills (English and Khmer).
- Fluency in Chinese language is an added point.
